Armed pro-Russian separatists have been 'flushed' out of a town in eastern Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry has said.
"During the anti-terrorism operation by special forces, the town was freed," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
It said the operation took place on the outskirts of the town of Sviatogorsk and that no one was injured. There have been no previous reports of gunmen in the town, which lies just outside the stronghold of pro-Russian militants in Slaviansk.
European Union foreign ministers added 13 people to their visa ban and asset freeze list over Ukraine's crisis.
Well that’s the voting over, and no surprises so far. A ‘Yes’ vote claimed to be 89% in Donetsk, and suddenly Ukraine is no more.
Nearly 90 percent of voters in eastern Ukrainian region voted for self-rule, the head of the separatist election commission said.
