A succession of powerful storms tearing across the southern states of America are now known to have killed at least 34 people. The storms have wreaked havoc in heavily populated areas, with the states of Arkansas and Mississippi hardest hit.

'Two dead' after tornado strikes US

Two people have reportedly been killed after several tornadoes ripped through states in the southern and central United States.

The deaths were reported in the Oklahoma town of Quapaw, while officials in Arkansas have also spoken of "mass casualties" near the city of Little Rock.
