Second person charged in Birmingham slavery probe

A second person has been charged over alleged slavery offences after four men were discovered in "squalid conditions" at a Birmingham house earlier this year.

Cristian Panaghita, 31, of Cotterills Lane is accused of conspiracy to hold another person in slavery servitude, West Midlands Police said.

He was charged last night and will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court next Friday.

Fifty-four-year-old Vasilica Panaghita of Alum Rock Road is already facing four counts of knowingly holding another person in slavery or servitude.

A 28-year-old man remains on bail pending further enquiries.
