Michael Gove rules out metal detectors in schools

The murder of teacher Ann Maguire is a "very rare" occurrence and there should not be a rush to introduce metal detectors in schools, the Education Secretary told Good Morning Britain.

Michael Gove admitted there were issues about "behaviour and safety" in schools, but this did require the introduction of metal detectors.

"The last time a teacher was attacked and died in this way was almost 20-years-ago. There are issues about behaviour and safety in schools, but we are tackling them."
