More than 2,100 people have been killed in an Afghanistan landslide, the Provincial Governor's spokesman said. The landslide hit the north-eastern Badakshan region.

UN: At least 350 dead after Afghan landslide

At least 350 people have died in a landslide in a remote area in northeastern Afghanistan, according to a United Nations spokesman.

According to the Associated Press news agency, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan says it is working with authorities on the ground to rescue people still trapped.

Badakhshan province, where the landslide occurred, sits between he Hindu Kush and Pamir mountain ranges and borders China.
