Members of the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) bowed their heads for 60 seconds and applauded at the end during their annual conference, which is being held in Birmingham.

Mrs Maguire, 61, was attacked as she taught a lesson at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds last week.

Outgoing NAHT president Bernadette Hunter asked delegates to pay tribute to Mrs Maguire's 40 years service, describing her as a "dedicated, inspiring and caring teacher who was loved by so many".
