Ukraine's acting president Olexander Turchinov has called eastern Ukraine's self-rule referendum a "farce" and said it leaves no legal consequences for authorities in Kiev.

Mr Turchinov accused Russia of looking to overthrow his country's leadership and trying to disrupt the May 25 presidential elections.
