Facebook troll could face jail after stabbed teacher post

An internet troll who wrote a message on Facebook saying he was "glad" a teacher in Leeds was stabbed to death has been told he could face jail after admitting he posted the comment.

Jake Newsome, 21, posted the comment on the social media site after Ann Maguire was stabbed to death in Corpus Christi Catholic College, in Leeds, on April 28.

The message, which ITV News has decided not to publish in full, said: "Personally, I'm glad that teacher got stabbed up. Feel sorry for the kid."

Newsome, from Harehills, Leeds, admitted to sending the offensive message during a court appearance at Leeds Magistrates.

District Judge Anderson said that all sentence options were open, including a jail sentence.
