William Hague has said "Nigerian security forces have not been well structured" to deal with the threat posed by Islamist militants Boko Haram.
Speaking ahead of a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan and other African politicians in Paris, Mr Hague said he would be seeking to ensure co-operation with surrounding nations in attempts to return more than 200 missing schoolgirls kidnapped by the organisation.
The Nigerian military has flown more than 300 sorties in the hunt for the abducted schoolgirls, a Major has told ITV News' Rageh Omaar.
A newly released video from Boko Haram reportedly shows the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls.
The man who started a viral hashtag campaign in support of the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls says it has forced the government to act.
