China market blasts 'act of terrorism'

China's domestic security chief has labelled the incident at a morning market in Urumqi an act of "violent terrorism".

In recent months China has blamed a string of violent attacks on militant separatists from Xinjiang province.

Explosive attack in market in northwestern China

Attackers crashed a pair of vehicles and tossed explosives in an attack near an open air market in the capital of China's volatile northwestern region of Xinjiang province, leaving 31 people dead and at least 94 injured.
