Rapid rise in migrants seeking UK jobs

The number of migrants seeking work in the UK rose by 27% in the space of a year, new figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show.

Home Office defends 'stable' migration levels

The government has defended its record on migration as new figures showed net migration reached 212,000 in 2013 - more than double the government's 100,000 target for the general election.

The Home Office told ITV News recent net migration levels "remain stable", adding "the figures show that it has fallen by a third since its peak in 2005".
