Relatives of all four missing sailors went to the Foreign Office today to be updated on the search.
Cressida Goslin, wife of yachtsman Paul Goslin, told ITV News that they hoped a potential debris sighting last night would prove positive.
"Let's hope that today is the today," she said.
With no sign of a life raft or of debris, and with nearly 20,000 square miles having been searched, the hunt continues for another day.
Veteran yachtsman Tony Bullimore tells ITV News that there is a "strong possibility" the yachtsmen are still alive in the life raft.
