A man has been jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years for murdering his beauty queen ex-girlfriend in a "vengeful and jealous rage."

David Gikawa, stabbed 29-year-old Linah Keza to death - fulfilling his threat to her and others that if he could not have her, nobody could, said Judge Michael Topolski at the Old Bailey.

Despite contacting police and social services the prosecution claimed the "systems in place" failed to prevent the death of the mother-of-one, who was crowned Miss Africa in 2010.

Gikawa denied murdering Ms Keza while she was with their two-year-old daughter at her flat in Leyton, east London, at 4.20am on July 31 last year, but he was convicted by a jury after less than two hours.
