Egypt elections: 'Bomb explodes at polling station'

A homemade bomb has exploded outside an Egyptian polling station as the nation votes for a new president, according to state television.

The explosion is said to have taken place in the city of El-Mahalla El-Kubra.

Egyptians began voting today in a two-day presidential election which former army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is expected to win, reviving rule by strongman three years after the downfall of Hosni Mubarak.
