Clegg insists Cable 'was not aware' of Oakeshott poll

Nick Clegg has insisted Vince Cable was not involved in a failed attempt to oust him as Liberal Democrat leader. During his regular Call Clegg show on LBC he said: "He was absolutely not aware of polls elsewhere."

Blair: Clegg's problems 'not to do with Europe'

The Liberal Democrats' poor results in the European elections are not about their stance on the EU but instead their role in the coalition government, former Prime Minister Tony Blair has told ITV News.

Mr Clegg has faced calls to resign after the Lib Dems lost all but one of their MEPs, but said forming a government with a party on the right of the political spectrum "was always going to be a problem".
