ITH Pharma boss 'deeply saddened' at septicaemia cases

The Managing Director of the firm whose product has been linked to septicaemia infections in 15 babies, including one death, has said she is "deeply saddened" by what has happened.

However, Karen Hamling insisted ITH Pharma was co-operating fully with regulators and there is "no reason for patients, their family or healthcare profesionals to be concerned" about the product in question.

Number of baby blood poisoning cases rises to 21

Three more cases of blood poisoning linked to a batch of intravenous liquid given to babies have been identified. Public Health England said yesterday that a batch was "strongly linked" to the death of one baby and the illness of 20 others.
