Lightning delay will not affect England's travel plans

Roy Hodgson came to Miami for the weather, it just wasn't this kind of weather he had in mind.

But, with the game having restarted and looking like it will finish, the game's only significance will be as pub quiz material.

The ref had no choice, American by-laws rule that if lightening strikes within 5 miles of the stadium, it means the game has to be postponed until the storm has passed.

While it won't faze the players, spare a thought for the ITV Sport presentation team who had what must have seemed an interminable time to fill. And that after racing from their exposed pitchside position to the sanctity of the tunnel.

The delay will not affect England's travel plans of course - their private charter to Rio tonight will wait and take off whenever they want, so the players will still get a comfortable night in their flat beds.
