Turkey calls for emergency Nato Iraq meeting

The Turkish government has called for an emergency Nato meeting on the security situation in Iraq, an official from the country's foreign ministry is reported to have said.

Some 80 Turkish nationals are reportedly amongst those being held by Islamist militant group ISIS in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, which has been captured by the insurgents.

Islamic State leader calls for jihad in audio message

The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.
