A baby involved in an investigation into blood poisoning has died, Public Health England have said, although the death does not appear to be related to the infection.

The Department of Health, who are investigating the deaths, have reported the total number of cases linked to blood poisoning in babies is 22 (18 confirmed and four possible cases).

All babies received the potentially affected intravenous liquid while in neonatal intensive care units in England, Public Health England said in a statement.
