The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.

Kurdish troops insist road to Mosul is 'safe' for now

ITV News International Affairs Editor Rageh Omaar has travelled from the Kurdish-controlled northern city of Irbil to the outskirts of Mosul, the first city overrun by ISIS militants.

His team were with an armed convoy of Kurdish fighters who insisted the ISIS forces were afraid of their troops.

People fleeing Mosul said ISIS were trying to win over staff from the city's essential services.
