Video from Sao Paulo today shows an anti-World Cup protester being sprayed in the eyes by riot police at point blank range.
A few dozen protesters clashed with police about 13 kilometres from the Arena Corinthians stadium which will host the Brazil-Croatia opener at 9pm.
One journalist was also injured in the melee.
