A police officer from Scotland Yard's Diplomatic Protection Group has been sacked for sending "disgusting and offensive" porn to his colleagues from his mobile phone.

James Addison, 37, who was also investigated and cleared in the wake of the Plebgate row, lost his job after being found guilty of gross misconduct by force bosses.

Among the responsibilities of the department is the protection of foreign heads of state and assisting counter-terrorism efforts at major events.

An internal panel found the constable's conduct was discreditable when he sent the obscene pictures and videos, which featured bizarre sex acts and defecation.
