Hundreds of men have flocked to sign up for the Iraqi army in an attempt to combat Islamist fighters who have seized parts of the country.

The men were pictured travelling in convoys of trucks in Baghdad, as ISIS fighters vowed yesterday to capture the city.

Islamic State leader calls for jihad in audio message

The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.
