Francis Matthews, voice of Captain Scarlet, dies at 86

The voice of Captain Scarlet, Francis Matthews, has died at the age of 86, the maker of the programme has announced.

Anderson Entertainment said it was "sorry to report" Matthews' passing.

"Matthews was a successful actor with a long and varied career," the statement on Gerry Anderson's website said.

The statement said Matthews was cast after the company relaxed their "casting requirements" to allow British accents to be heard in their programmes.
