The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.

Islamist group tweets pictures of apparent massacre

Islamist group ISIS that has stormed several towns in northern Iraq has posted photos of an apparent massacre on Twitter.

The Guardian has reported that the pictures showed masked fighters loading captives onto trucks and forcing them to lie face-down in a shallow ditch. The final pictures were reportedly of bodies soaked in blood.

Twitter appears to have since suspended the account responsible for publishing the images.
