Iraq's Shi'ite-led cabinet has blamed Saudi Arabia for promoting "genocide," accusing them of backing Sunni militants in the north.
Saudi Arabia funds and supplies Sunni rebels in neighbouring Syria, but has denied it is behind funding the militant group Isis.
An Iraqi government statement said:
We hold them responsible for supporting these groups financially and morally, and for the outcome of that - which includes crimes that may qualify as genocide: the spilling of Iraqi blood, the destruction of Iraqi state institutions and historic and religious sites.
The Foreign Secretary has been clear on the threat of Isis, but he has ruled out the prospect of any UK military involvement in the crisis.
Iraq’s foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari, is a natural diplomat. Polite, immaculately dressed, and blessed with a great memory.
Isis has paraded military equipment in Mosul it captured from when the Iraqi army fled in what some see as a "nightmare scenario."
