The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.

Iraqi PM calls for tribes to reject Sunni militant fighters

Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki has called for his country's tribes to renounce Sunni militant fighters who have succeeded in capturing large parts of the north of the country over the past two weeks. In a televised speech, he said:

I call upon the tribes to renounce those who are killers and criminals who represent foreign agendas.
