PM: Islamist militants in Iraq 'planning to attack UK'

David Cameron has warned that Islamist militants operating in Iraq are planning to attack the UK.

"I...disagree with those people who think this is nothing to do with us, and if they want to have some sort of extreme Islamist regime in the middle of Iraq that won't affect us - it will," the Prime Minister told MPs.

"The people in that regime, as well as trying to take territory are also planning to attack us here at home in the UK, so the right answer is to be long-term, hard-headed, patient and intelligent with the interventions we make."

Islamic State leader calls for jihad in audio message

The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.
