Sunni militant fighters attacked Iraq's largest oil refinery, located in Baiji in northern Iraq, with mortars and machine-guns early this morning, security sources said.
The attack started at around 4am, Iraq time, from outside two of the three main entrances to the refinery.
Yesterday foreigners were evacuated from the refinery forces braced for an attack.
