Man trapped in Germany's deepest cave for 12 days rescued

A caver who has been trapped in Germany's deepest cave for 12 days has been rescued, according to reports. Johann Westhauser, who suffered head injuries, surfaced this morning after a long rescue operation.

Caver reaches surface after 12 days injured underground

A cave researcher who has been trapped underground since the 8th June, has finally been brought to the surface.

Suffering head injuries in an accident deep underground in Germany, Johann Westhauser was slowly brought up the cave system to emerge this morning.

"He left the cave at 9:44 am," said a rescue service spokesman, adding that medics were looking after him.
