The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.

Iraqi army vows to keep Baghdad safe from insurgents

Isis insurgents in Iraq captured more towns and border crossings today, reportedly securing large swathes of the west of the county and establishing control of key strategic sites.

But as they continue their rampage through the country, an army general told ITV News his men will go on the attack to prevent them taking Baghdad.
