The career of Wimbledon hopeful Simona Halep has soared since she had a breast reduction, her coach has said.
Wim Fissette said the 22-year-old Romanian, who had her 34DD breasts reduced to a 34C aged 17 to improve her reaction times, made the 'right decision' to undergo surgery.
Since then Halep has soared up the rankings to overtake former champion Maria Sharapova and reached the French Open final a few weeks ago.
A recent study found nearly one in five women said their breasts stopped them participating in physical activity.
Not being able to find the right sports bra and being embarrassed by excessive breast movement were the main factors cited by by over 200 women surveyed by the University of Portsmouth.
At the time of her operation tennis champ Halep said: "I don't like them in my everyday life. I would have undergone surgery if I hadn't been a sportswoman."
