Union flags will be raised at full mast today as preparations for this weekend's Armed Forces Day get under way.

Organisers say 10 Downing Street, Government departments, local authority buildings and businesses will all fly the flag to show support for the men and women of Britain's Armed Forces, past and present.

Social media users are also being encouraged to fly the flag digitally by adopting the Armed Forces Day Twibbon.

By adopting the logo, a small image of the Armed Forces Day flag will be added to Twitter and Facebook profiles to show support for the day.
