May to order independent sex abuse claims investigation

Lord Brittan: 'Paedophile dossier handled properly'

A former home secretary has clarified his position on the handling of a 1980s dossier alleging paedophile activity in Westminster after initially insisting he simply passed the information to officials.

Now a Tory peer, Lord Brittan admitted he had misremembered events by stating that he had heard nothing further after handing over a file he was given by then-MP Geoffrey Dickens in November 1983.
