Wet and windy in northwest, dry and warm elsewhere

Today sees stronger winds and locally heavy rain spreading into northwestern parts through the day, with gales in northwest Scotland.

Elsewhere, it will be mostly dry and very warm with sunny periods, although these become hazier in the north.

It will be noticeably warmer than Tuesday along the east coast.

Tonight the rain eases and gradually moves southeastwards into northern England and Wales overnight, followed by clear spells and the odd shower.
