Huge cheers for Tour de France director in Yorkshire

Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme was given a huge cheer by the thousands of people who gathered for the Opening ceremony of the Tour de France.

Prudhomme said he was overwhelmed by the response the race and racers had received and was silenced by the applause when he referred to Yorkshire as "God's county".

Millions watch Tour de France start in Yorkshire

Cycling fans - including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry - watched the start of the world's most famous cycle race in Yorkshire over the weekend. Millions of spectators lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the sprinters.
