Crying Japanese politician becomes internet hit

A Japanese politician has become an internet sensation after crying during his explanation of his extensive spending of public cash.

Television chatshows and news channels have broadcast looped footage of the press conference during which 47-year-old Ryutaro Nonomura wails, weeps and bangs his fists on a desk as tears roll down his cheeks in-between huge gulps of breath.

Nonomura, who was elected to the assembly in Hyogo in western Japan in 2011, is suspected of misusing ¥3m (£17,000) of official allowances.
