Elvis impersonator charged over gun offence

An Elvis impersonator who sparked an armed police hunt has been charged with a weapons offence.

Derrel Weaver, 60, is set to appear in court today accused of unlawful possession of a firearm.

A search lasting 24 hours was launched after a domestic-related incident at Weaver's home on June 26.

Police closed a primary school and sealed off parts of the surrounding village of Widegates amid fears the 60-year-old was armed.
