A pilot has posted on Twitter describing the noise of 'car alarms and trees snapping' amid a power outage in the eye of Hurricane Arthur, while earlier an astronaut posted an image of the eye of the storm.

Hurricane Arthur upgraded amid 100mph winds

The US National Hurricane Center has said that Hurricane Arthur was upgraded to a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds at 100 miles per hour (160 kilometres per hour).
