Israeli military officials have confirmed overnight airstrikes on the Gaza town of Rafah, in which seven Hamas gunmen were reported killed, according to Reuters.
The Israeli military said that they had "responded to rocket attacks against southern Israel," targeting nine "terror" sites and concealed rocket launchers.
It's been an emotionally exhausting day in Israel and Gaza as hopes for peace were raised then dashed then raised then dashed again.

Until the Israelis and the Palestinians find a way of resolving the underlining conflict this will not be more than a pause.
