Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the parents of murdered Palestinian teenager Mohammed Abu Khder, NBC News has reported.
In the call, Netanyahu called the killing of the teenager "abhorrent" and promised that his murderers would be dealt with "to the fullest extent of the law."
NBC News Correspondent Cassandra Vinograd reports:
. @netanyahu calls parents of murdered Palestinian: "Murder of your son is abhorrent and cannot be countenanced by any human being."
. @netanyahu to Khdeir family: Son's murderers will be "dealt with to the fullest extent of the law."
It's been an emotionally exhausting day in Israel and Gaza as hopes for peace were raised then dashed then raised then dashed again.
In the court of international opinion, this is how Israel wins a battle and still manages to lose the war.
Until the Israelis and the Palestinians find a way of resolving the underlining conflict this will not be more than a pause.
