Israeli military forces have said that four rockets have been fired from Gaza towards Jerusalem, with two being intercepted by its Iron Dome defence system and the other two hitting open areas.
Earlier UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for a ceasefire in the Middle East, as he said that the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip had "dangerously escalated".

It's been an emotionally exhausting day in Israel and Gaza as hopes for peace were raised then dashed then raised then dashed again.
