Former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson has won a lucrative contract for his cheese-making business, it has been reported.

Wilson, who played Martin Platt in the ITV soap for 20 years, will supply a range of Lancashire cheeses to nationwide discount store B&M Bargains.

Since leaving the show in 2005 he has set up the Saddleworth Cheese Company, worked on a Channel 5 cookery show and published a book entitled the Great Northern Cookbook.

Wilson said he was proud of his cheese selection: "It's for people who don't get a lot of time to cook, who don't necessarily go into high end supermarkets but don't want to compromise on quality," he told the Sunday Mirror.
