Damaged terror flight records 'have dried out'

Records for flights used to take terror suspects to a US base on a British territory in the Indian Ocean have "dried out" after apparently suffering water damage.

The Government said the flight logs to Diego Garcia had been damaged by a leaking roof and "extremely heavy weather" last month.

Foreign Office minister Mark Simmonds said that a "fuller inspection" of the records for the island had revealed that "previously wet paper records have been dried out".
