US actor James Garner, who died aged 86, had been in ill health since suffering a stroke four years ago.
No further details of the circumstances of the Emmy winning star's death have emerged.
Garner was best known for his roles in Maverick, The Rockford Files and the Great Escape, and more recently alongside Ryan Gosling in The Notebook.
