A Sheriff in the United States has banned inmates' orange jumpsuits, trading them in for black-and-white stripes, because they have become too 'cool.'
According the the Associated Press, Sheriff William Federspiel of Saginaw County, Michigan says that the classic orange inmate jumpsuit is increasingly being viewed as fashionable, especially when they are seen on popular television shows such as Netflix smash hit Orange Is the New Black.
"Some people think it's cool to look like an inmate of the Saginaw County Jail ... wearing all orange jumpsuits out at the mall or in public." Sheriff Federspiel said. He was concered that prisoners who occasionally work outside in the public could be mistaken for fashionable trendsetters.
