US flights to Tel Aviv banned for 24 hours

All US flights to and from Tel Aviv have been suspended amid ongoing rocket fire in the region, the US aviation authority has announced.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it had informed US airlines that they were prohibited from flying to or from Ben Gurion International Airport for 24 hours.

The alert was in response to a rocket strike which occurred around one mile from the airport earlier today.

Delta Air Lines and US Airways have already suspended flights to the region following the reports.
