The missing Air Algerie aircraft took off from Burkina Faso at 01:17 local time (02:17am BST) and was supposed to land in Algiers at 05:10 local time (05:10am BST) but never reached its destination, Swiftair says.
Algeria's APS state news agency says the flight lost contact around 50 minutes in to its journey.
