US official: Israel to begin 12-hour ceasefire tomorrow

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told US Secretary of State John Kerry that Israel will begin a 12-hour pause in hostilities in Gaza from 7am local time tomorrow, a US official has told Reuters.

The official made the comment when asked about Mr Kerry's statement that Mr Netanyahu had inferred to him that Israel was willing to undertake a pause as a goodwill gesture.

The Israeli government did not immediately comment on the report.
