Weather: South-east downpours could lead to flooding

Heavy downpours are expected in the south-east.

Any early mist and fog will burn back to the northeast coastline this morning, leaving a fine, dry and very warm day across much of the country.

However, this afternoon and at the start of this evening, locally heavy downpours are likely in the southeast, perhaps with thunder and giving some local surface water flooding.

Temperatures will reach 28 Celsius (82F), so not just as high as yesterday.

North Sea coasts will be cooler with a breeze from the sea and some misty low cloud.
